Lensa AI
One of the apps that is completely dominating the generative AI hype right now is Lensa AI (built by Prisma Labs). If you haven’t tried it or haven’t seen it on your socials yet, it’s a mobile app available in the App Store.
They recently released their now viral “Magic Avatar” feature, (which uses a StableDiffusion model under the hood). It creates generated avatars from your personal photos that you upload.

Check out this hockey stick revenue growth that the app has experienced after blowing up:
"In the last month, the app has seen a significant spike with the release of magic avatars. In November, the app was downloaded 1.6 million times, up 631% from 219,000 downloads in October."
@levelsio and AvatarAI
Pieter Levels, a serial entrepreneur (“Indiepreneur” as his twitter bio states) built out a similar version of Lensa AI’s Magic Avatars on his own platform - AvatarAI.me.
He built AvatarAI before Lensa AI even shipped their feature, but his project didn’t get nearly as popular. Levels wrote a thread about his learnings from the situation:

ChatGPT
OpenAI recently released https://chat.openai.com/, a GPT3.5 model with a chat bot interface available for anyone to test out and use. The chat bot has been going viral, crossing 1 million users in 5 days 🤯

There have been so many unique discoveries and projects built on GPT3 and ChatGPT in the last few weeks. Some are highlighted below:
Building A Virtual Machine inside ChatGPT
Users of ChatGPT are making some pretty crazy discoveries with the queries they’re giving the bot. Jonas Degrave posted a blog about how he created and ran an instance of a virtual computer in ChatGPT.
He was able to run console commands and start docker containers, all from the chat window 🤯
Creating a fake chef’s instagram profile
Bruno Gouveia posted a blog post about his experience creating a whole identity of a chef using ChatGPT and DALL-E. While the purpose of the post is to showcase the technology, it’s a bit frightening to see fake identities created out of thin air.
TutorAI and Video Generation
@DannyHabibs is building some of the most creative projects using the newly available AI tech. He recently released TutorAI.me, a platform where you can learn about any topic.

He’s also built a tool to take ChatGPT answers and transform them into short form videos 🤯

ChatGPT Code
@flngr showed the power of ChatGPT by giving it a coding problem. The result was a fully usable program. This begs the question, how will programming careers change now that such tools are available?

AI Generated Postcards
The team over at Rally Technologies released an AI powered postcard generator. It allows users to create and mail a postcard, all with the power of AI. Check out the project here: https://postedby.ai/
Jasper x Outwrite Acquisition
The AI unicorn Jasper announced that it has acquired Outwrite, an Australian company building an AI copy write assistant.

That’s all the highlights for this week! I’ve created a Twitter list of AI builders who I’m following, feel free to give it a follow if you’re interested.
